But autistic adults are a significant and growing group, including many who received their diagnosis in adulthood after years of misdiagnosis and their needs and risk profile are different.

The Minor Patient Pathway: What Parents Need to Know?

Because Pennsylvania allows autistic minors to qualify, and because much of the research base involves pediatric populations, it’s worth being direct about what the process looks like when the patient is a child.

A parent or legal guardian must serve as the patient’s designated caregiver. The minor cannot register independently. The caregiver registers with the PA Medical Marijuana Program, handles all dispensary purchases, and manages product administration. A second designated caregiver can also be registered.
